National plans

Crises that call for urgent coordinated intervention are managed at the national level on the basis of emergency response plans ('plans d'interventions d'urgence' - PIUs).

The aims of these PIUs are:

  • to define the bodies dealing the crisis;
  • to lay down the process for alerting the authorities and to provide information to the public;
  • to define the emergency measures and associated actions, and the respective stakeholders in charge.

All Government emergency response plans adopted by the Council of Government, together with full information from the national authorities in connection with emergency situations can be accessed online via the portal at www.infocrise.lu.

Indeed, managing a crisis may involve the entire population. Furthermore a good knowledge of the PIUs and the behaviour  to adopt as well as of the protective measures implemented by the authorities makes the crisis easier to manage.

The Luxembourg government also has a Twitter account (@infocriseLU) which it can use to inform the population of an emergency situation.
