Launch of phase 3 of the vaccination campaign

The first invitations to people covered by phase 3 of the vaccination campaign will most probably be sent out by the end of next week (week 11) More details on the exact dates will be communicated in due course.

As already announced, following the decision of the Government Council of 29 January, the people concerned are residents aged 70 - 74, starting with the oldest (phase 3a), as well as people who are significantly vulnerable due to a pre-existing health condition (phase 3b).

The diseases in this context are as follows:

  • People suffering from acquired immunodeficiency 
    • : immunosuppressive medication, biotherapy and/or long-term corticosteroid therapy at immunosuppressive doses
    • HIV infection with CD4 <200/mm3 ​
  • Severe chronic respiratory disease ​
    • Severe chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), GOLD stages 3 and 4, group D*.
    • Cystic fibrosis
    • Severe chronic pulmonary fibrosis
    • Severe uncontrolled asthma (level 5 according to GINA) corticosteroid-dependent (under oral corticosteroid therapy)
  • Severe cardiovascular disease
    • Cardiac insufficiency NYHA stage III or IV
    • Unstable coronary heart disease
  • Major neurocognitive deficiency (MMSE score < 20)
  • Chronic renal failure on dialysis
  • Stage B or C cirrhosis in the Child-Pugh score ​
  • Morbid obesity (body mass index > 40 kg/m2).

Booking an appointment

The people concerned by phase 3a, i.e. those over 70 years of age, will receive an invitation from the Ministry of Health by post, with detailed instructions on how to make an appointment in the vaccination centre of their choice. Personalised assistance is also offered through a hotline specifically set up for this purpose under the number (+352) 247-65533.

People considered significantly vulnerable according to the phase 3b definition will be able to register for the vaccination via their general practitioner or specialist doctor from the end of next week and will then receive an invitation by post.

Invitations will be sent out as and when vaccines are delivered.
